David Kinnear
Chief Executive Officer
High Performance Counsel

David is the Founder & CEO of HPC MEDIA GROUP, which owns and publishes HIGH PERFORMANCE COUNSEL (HPC). HPC is focused on the next decade of leadership and innovation in legal services. As such, HPC features the individuals, organizations and solutions creating the technical and leadership framework of the new legal industry that is now starting to emerge.

Prior to the launch of HPC, David was a co-founder of a legaltech company focused on process automation, which was successfully acquired by a leading legal services provider. An English Barrister by call (’89), he spent several years in private litigation practice – largely focused on substantial construction, engineering and commercial real estate disputes. David worked for leading law firms Pinsent Masons and Linklaters in London before moving to New York to join Credit Suisse. As Counsel and Chief Administrative Officer, he helped negotiate & execute the relocation of Credit Suisse into its (now) NYC global HQ – the iconic Eleven Madison Avenue. Subsequently, David directed major global outsourcing, shared sourcing, HR operations & process efficiency initiatives including the digitization of records, the global roll-out of PeopleSoft HRMS & Y2K Compliance. David has worked extensively in the UK, US, Philippines, India and China markets in the areas of data management, human resources and business process outsourcing.

With several years in the startup environment, including as a co-founder in the legal tech space specifically, he brings a unique and timely perspective on the role of data, automation and artificial intelligence in the modern and efficient delivery of services for legal consumers. Having been both a corporate buyer of legal services and a services provider, he identifies the greater efficiency and value that can be achieved in legal operations for corporate buyers especially. David speaks to the inroads that “data, tech and finance” will have on the legal sector in the coming years – describing these as the “three horses of the legal apocalypse.”

David graduated from the University of Manchester with Honors in Law and Bar School (College of Legal Education) in London, and has been a member of Middle Temple since 1989. He is the founder and former Chairman of The Global Sourcing Council.

David lives in New York with his wife and daughter.
